Ian Herbert: Instructor, London Theatre
Ian Herbert was educated at Cambridge University. He became a publisher, in which capacity he edited the reference book Who's Who in Theatre.
In 1981 he launched the journal London Theatre Record which he edited and published until 2003, becoming its consultant editor in 2004. From 1984 - 1991 he edited Sightline, the quarterly journal of theatre design and technology, for the Association of British Theatre Technicians. He edited two editions of The World of Theatre (London: Routledge, 2000, 2003) for the International Theatre Institute. He writes regularly for theatre journals world wide, including The Stage in London, where he has a regular column of comment. He served on the jury of the 2003 Prague Quadriennal of theatre design and the 2005 exhibition of World Stage Design, in Toronto. He lectures frequently to British and American students of theatre.
Since 2001 he has been President of the International Association of Theatre Critics. He is also a Trustee of the Critics' Circle and the Mander & Mitchenson Theatre Collection. In 2005 he was elected Chairman of the Society for Theatre Research in London.
Donald and Molly Rumbelow: Instructors, British Life and Culture
Donald and Molly Rumbelow are both Blue Badge Guides in London. Molly Rumbelow has graduate degrees in art and design history. Donald Rumbelow served for over two decades as a police inspector in London. One highlight of their course is a late night Jack the Ripper tour of London. The Rumbelow's are regularly sought after to lead travel and study groups in London.
Patricia Passes, instructor, Art History
Tricha Passes is a graduate of the Courtauld Institute London. This is an internationally renowned university specializing in the study of the History of Art. She went on to take her Masters from Bath Spa University in Visual Culture. Tricha's key subject interests are Nineteenth and Twentieth century art with particular focus on the Avant-Garde, British Modernism and Modernism in the U.S.A.
She works for the University of the West of England in the Visual Culture Department and has overseen several research projects for their Dean of Faculty. She also lectures at Bristol University in the History of Art Department specializing in Twentieth Century Art. For the last ten years, she has taught in London on a variety of overseas programmes for American students.
Tricha's research in 2007 was concerned with artists and their relationship to the environment. She gave a seminar paper for Bristol University in November 2007 on the North American artist Neil Jenney. This involved travelling to New York last summer to interview him about his practice. She is currently preparing a paper for The Royal West of England Academy in Bristol to coincide with their exhibition on the theme of ‘Night', entitled ‘In Such a Night as This': Romanticism's Nocturnal Address.
Dr. Stephen Crawford , instructor, Music History (UMHB)
Dr. Crawford, Associate Professor of Music History at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor, holds the Bachelor of Arts Degree in Music Education from Minot State University, the Master of Music Degree from the University of Northern Iowa, and the Doctor of Musical Arts Degree from the University of Missouri-Kansas City Conservatory of Music. He is the principal percussionist and timpanist with the Temple Symphony Orchestra, Music Director for the Ritmo y Mas Percussion Group, conductor of the UMHB Percussion Ensemble, and is the coordinator for the Music History Department at UMHB. A nationally recognized conductor and scholar of wind and percussion music, Dr. Crawford is in demand as a percussion performer, clinician, lecturer, and guest conductor having appeared throughout the United States, Canada, Mexico, Ireland, Taiwan, and Indonesia. Dr. Crawford represents Ross Mallet Instruments, Majestic Timpani, and Innovative Percussion Inc. as performing artist and clinician. As an award-winning composer, many his marimba compositions have been performed world-wide. He was awarded the 2005 UMHB Faculty Award for Excellence in Scholarship, and was a 2004 nominee for Composer of the Year by the Texas Music Teachers Association.
Dr. Allan Landwer-instructor, Biology (HSU)
Dr. Allan Landwer is the faculty representative from Hardin-Simmons University. He serves as professor and head of the Biology department at HSU. Dr. Landwer served as the faculty representative for the HSU London Program in 2004.
