MBB sent to Millsaps in NCAA Tournament

Belton, TX - The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor men's basketball team's second NCAA appearance will start in almost the same location its first trip did, with the Cru headed to Mississippi to open the tournament. UMHB will travel to a four-team weekend tournament at Millsaps College in Jackson, Mississippi on Friday, March 7th and Saturday, March 8th. The Cru (25-3) will face Fontbonne University (21-6) in a first-round game Friday night with the winner of that game advancing to face the winner of the Millsaps College (25-3)/Maryville (TN) College (24-2) first-round game in the regional final on Saturday. The UMHB/Fontbonne game will begin at 6:00 PM with Maryville/Millsaps starting at 8:00 PM. The regional championship game will be played at 7:00 PM on Saturday night. The Millsaps regional winner will move on to face the winner of the four-team regional hosted by Guilford College in the NCAA Division III Sectionals.
"We are thrilled to be in the NCAA Tournament again," Cru head coach Ken DeWeese said. "We are looking forward to the chance to go play Fontbonne."
The Cru went 25-3 overall this season and won the American Southwest Conference championship for the first time in school history. UMHB also advanced to the NCAA Division III National Championships last season before falling to Maryville 73-62 in a first-round game. Fontbonne finished 21-6 and advances to the NCAA's after winning the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. Tournament host Millsaps College won the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference and Maryville is in the tournament as one of the four Pool B, or at-large teams.
