MG's Eastman named ASC Distinguished Scholar-Athlete; four other voted to Scholar-Athlete Team

Ryan Eastman - ASC Men's Golf Distinguished Scholar-Athlete
Belton, TX - The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor placed a total of five student-athletes on the American Southwest Conference Spring Distinguished Scholar-Athlete Team today. Men's golfer Ryan Eastman also became the first UMHB student-athlete to win an ASC Distinguished Scholar-Athlete Award when he was selected to receive the ASC Men's Golf Distinguished Scholar-Athlete Award. The Cru had players named to the baseball, softball, men's tennis and women's golf teams.
Ryan Eastman is a senior Christian ministry major from San Angelo Central High School. He was a First Team All-ASC selection this year after leading the Cru to the ASC Tournament Championship. Eastman finished in a tie for second-place individually at the ASC Tournament. He was a three-time ASC All-Conference selection, a three-time ASC Academic All-Conference pick and was the only ASC golfer named to the Cleveland/GCAA All-American Scholar-Athlete Team.
Adam Froeschl represents the Cru on the ASC Distinguished Scholar-Athlete Baseball Team. Froeschl is a senior second baseman and political science major from Hays High School.
Daphne Kahlig represents UMHB on the ASC Distinguished Scholar-Athlete Softball Team. Kahlig is a senior pitcher and mathematics major from Rosebud-Lott High School.
Christi Williams represents the Cru on the ASC Distinguished Scholar-Athlete Women's Golf Team. Williams is a sophomore sport management major from Snyder High School.
Chad Mann represents the Cru on the ASC Distinguished Scholar-Athlete Men's Tennis Team. Mann is a senior exercise and sport science major from Goddard High School in Roswell, New Mexico.
This is the first year for the ASC Distinguished Scholar-Athlete Teams. The honor recognizes student-athletes that achieve a higher level of academic achievement (a 3.20 grade-point average or better) while competing as a starter or important reserve on their team. From that list, limited to one nominee per school in each ASC Championship sport - the Sports Information Directors from the conference's 15 member institutions vote on a Distinguished Scholar-Athlete from each sport.
