Kahlig and Felechner named to ASC Scholar-Athlete Team

Belton, TX-The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor has placed two student-athletes on the 2007-2008 American Southwest Conference Scholar-Athlete Team. Daphne Kahlig and Shaun Felechner are the UMHB recipients of the ASC Scholar-Athlete Awards this year. The ASC recognizes one male and female student-athlete from each member institution with the ASC Scholar-Athlete Awards each year, recognizing their accomplishments on the field and in the classroom.
Daphne Kahlig is a senior softball player from Rosebud-Lott High School. She is a mathematics major and is a three-time ASC Academic All-Conference selection. Kahlig was also a four-time ASC All-West Division selection and was voted ASC West Division Pitcher of the Year this season. She helped lead the Cru to four straight ASC Tournament Appearances and also helped lead the UMHB softball team to its first NCAA Division III National Championships appearance this spring. Kahlig participated in numerous service projects with the Cru softball team and finished her career among UMHB's all-time leader in wins, strikeouts and ERA.
Shaun Felechner is a senior men's golfer from Lahainaluna High School in Lahaina, Hawaii. He is a marketing major and is a three-time ASC Academic All-Conference selection. Felechner was a member of two ASC Championship Teams with the Cru and he was also a member of UMHB's NCAA Division III National Tournament qualifier this season. Felechner is heavily involved with the Baptist Student Ministry at UMHB and also served as a University Ambassador, a group hand-selected for service by the President of UMHB. He was a three-time member of the UMHB Vice-President for Athletics Honor Roll.
