MS beats Louisiana College 7-1

Pineville, LA - The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor men's soccer team took control of the match early and the Cru rolled to a 7-1 victory over Louisiana College Thursday night in Pineville, Louisiana. The UMHB men improve to 8-6-1 overall and 7-2-1 in American Southwest Conference play with the victory. The loss drops the Wildcats to 4-12-1 overall and 2-7-1 in the ASC on the year.

Tyler Wagner gave the Cru a 1-0 lead when he scored an unassisted goal just 1:16 into the match. Matthew Dollins made it 2-0 off an assist from Jonathan Hernandez 3:29 later and Hernandez scored an unassisted goal at the 9:32 mark to give UMHB a 3-0 lead less than 10 minutes into the match. Wagner scored again off an assist from Juan Lopez and Brian McDaniel and Bo Baker scored unassisted goals to give the Cru a 6-0 lead at halftime. Hernandez scored his second goal of the match to put UMHB up 7-0 before Jeff Fritzer scored at the 58:20 mark to provide the final margin.

The Cru out shot the Wildcats 19-5 in the match. Jude Austin and Mark Miller combined for the victory in goal for UMHB with one save between them. Ray Savoie posted five saves in goal for the Wildcats.

The UMHB men will continue their road trip at first-place Mississippi College with a 3:00 PM start on Saturday in Clinton, Mississippi. The Cru will then return home to close out the regular season with home matches against McMurry University and Hardin-Simmons University next weekend.
