MS's Jonathan Hernandez earns conference honors

Belton, TX - University of Mary Hardin-Baylor men's soccer player Jonathan Hernandez has been named American Southwest Conference Offensive Player of the Week for the week ending October 21st. Hernandez, a freshman forward from Belton High School, scored three goals and added an assist during a week that saw the UMHB men go 2-0 and clinch a berth in the ASC Championship Tournament. Hernandez opened the week by scoring two goals and adding an assist in a 7-1 victory over Louisiana College. He then scored the game-winning goal six minutes into overtime in UMHB's 2-1 overtime win over Mississippi College on Saturday. This is the second ASC Offensive Player of the Week honor for Hernandez this season.

The UMHB men's soccer team is 9-6-1 overall and 8-2-1 in ASC play this season. The Cru is currently tied for third place in the ASC with East Texas Baptist. The UMHB men will close out the regular season with home matches against McMurry University and Hardin-Simmons University this week.
