TEN closes out play at ASC Individual Tournament

Abilene, TX - The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor men's and women's tennis teams closed out play at the American Southwest Conference Individual Tournament on Saturday in Abilene with several strong finishes.

In flight six women's singles, Elise Kunze advanced to the finals before falling to Bria Camarillo of Hardin-Simmons 0-6, 7-6 (11-9), 7-6 (5) in the title match. Kunze had advanced to the finals with a 6-1, 6-2 semifinal victory over #4 seed Liz Hawkins of Mississippi College.

In flight five singles, UMHB's Christi Voss fell to McMurry's Veronica Quiroz 7-6 (4), 1-6, 6-0 in the semifinals match. In flight one women's singles, Amber Thomas beat Sylvia Brownfield of U.T.-Dallas in the consolation semifinals and then fell to Sarah Sprayberry of Mississippi College 6-0, 6-0 in the consolation finals. In flight two women's singles, Amber Long fell to Savannah Matlock of U.T.-Dallas 6-2, 3-6, 10-8 in the consolation semifinals.

In men's flight eight singles, Alex Graham beat Texas Lutheran's Michael Packard 6-3, 7-6 (1) in the consolation semifinals before falling to LeTourneau's Scott Schlesinger 6-5, 5-7, 10-7 in the consolation finals. In men's flight two singles, Burton Goen fell to Hardin-Simmons' Daniel moore 6-3, 6-4 in the consolation semifinals.

The UMHB men and women will return to action with their only home tournament of the fall. The Cru and Lady Cru will play host to the UMHB/Temple College Fall Classic on September 21st and 22nd.
