FB places two on AP Little All-America Team

Belton, TX - The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor football team placed two players on the Associated Press Little All-America Team released today. LB Jerrell Freeman became the first UMHB player to earn AP Little All-America First Team honors and OT Caleb Woodall was voted to the AP Little All-America Third Team.

Freeman, a senior from Waco University High School, led the Cru with 112 tackles and he was second on the team with 18.5 tackles for loss. Freeman added 6.0 sacks, seven pass break-ups, three forced fumbles and he also blocked a punt and returned it for a touchdown. He finished his career as UMHB's all-time leading tackler. Freeman was also voted ASC Defensive Player of the Year this season and is a three-time ASC All-Conference First Team selection.

Woodall, a senior from Harlingen High School, helped clear the way for a UMHB rushing attack that led the nation this season with 355.9 yards per game. The Cru averaged 6.4 yards per rushing attempt and 7.0 yards per play this season and UMHB allowed just 10 quarterback sacks on the year. Woodall was also voted ASC Offensive Lineman of the Year this season and is a two-time ASC All-Conference First Team selection.

The Cru finished the 2007 season with a 12-2 overall record and won the ASC championship with an 8-0 league mark. UMHB advanced to the NCAA Division III National Semifinals before falling to Wisconsin-Whitewater 16-7.

Freeman is the first UMHB player to earn AP Little All-America Honors twice. Freeman and Woodall join former UMHB MLB Preston Meyer, OT Jeff Oliver, OC Matt Bush and P Hunter Hamrick as AP Little All-America honorees. Meyer was honored in 2002, Oliver and Bush were both selected in 2004, Hamrick claimed a spot on the team in 2005 and Freeman was also selected last year.
