Mayborn Campus Center

The UMHB women's basketball team moved into the Mayborn Campus Center during the 2004-2005 basketball season. The facility serves as home for the UMHB men's and women's basketball and volleyball teams. The Mayborn Campus Center features a 2,500-seat arena/special events center and locker rooms for the UMHB basketball and volleyball teams. Seating capacity in the Mayborn Campus Center can expand to 3,200 for special events. There are also locker rooms for visiting teams and officials. The 110,000 square foot building houses a fitness center, an indoor swimming pool, an aerobics room, an indoor jogging track and the Mabee-Farris Recreational Gymnasium.

The Mayborn Campus Center is also home to the UMHB Athletic Department and the UMHB Exercise and Sport Science Department. Both departments have office suites in the building, along with conference rooms and storage space. The UMHB Athletic Training Department has a full equipped training room in the building and the Mayborn Campus Center also houses an Exercise Physiology Lab and an Athletic Training Lab. Classroom space for the EXSS, Sports Management and Athletic Training Departments is also located in the Mayborn Campus Center, along with a student lounge and a Smoothie Bar.

The Mayborn Campus Center is named in honor of Frank and Sue Mayborn and the Mayborn Foundation. The university has a long and enduring relationship with the Mayborn Family. In 1976, Mr. Frank W. Mayborn was awarded an Honorary Doctorate of Humanities for his many contributions and service to the Central Texas area, the state and the nation. After his death, the university published Mr. Mayborn's life history in Frank W. Mayborn: A Man Who Made A Difference by Odie B. and Laura E. Faulk. In 1991, Mrs. Sue Mayborn was awarded the Honorary Doctorate of Humanities to recognize her interest in and support of the university and for her commitment to volunteer efforts in Bell County and the State of Texas. In 1988, the Mayborn Foundation also established the Frank W. Mayborn Chair of Arts and Sciences at the university.
