WBB beats Texas Lutheran 75-60

Seguin, TX - The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor women's basketball team stormed back from a halftime deficit with a 23-0 run to open the second half and the Cru women held on for a 75-60 victory over Texas Lutheran University Saturday afternoon in Seguin. The UMHB women improve to 13-8 overall and 11-6 in American Southwest Conference play with the win. The loss drops the Lady Bulldogs to 0-21 overall and 0-17 in the ASC on the season.

UMHB trailed 36-34 at halftime after leading by as many as eight in the half. The Cru women then erupted out of the gate with that 23-0 run to open the second half to take control of the game. TLU cut it to 12 points with 1:05 remaining, but the Lady Bulldogs would not get any closer the rest of the way.

Landie Thompson led UMHB with 20 points and eight rebounds and Kallie White added 15 points and six boards. Jenny Black also reached double figures with 11 points and she scored nine of them during the Cru's 23-0 run. Kellie Thomas came off the bench to grab a team-high 11 rebounds. Madilyn Caran topped TLU with 21 points and 16 rebounds and Brittany Burton added 17 points and 11 boards for the Lady Bulldogs.

UMHB shot 43 per cent from the field in the win and held TLU to 31 per cent shooting. The Cru also out rebounded the Lady Bulldogs 57-42 and held TLU to 18 per cent shooting from three-point range.

The Cru women will continue their road trip with a pair of games next week. The UMHB women will open the week with a 5:30 PM tip-off at 2nd-ranked Howard Payne University on Thursday. The Cru women will then face Sul Ross State in a 1:00 PM start on Saturday in Alpine. The UMHB women will close out the regular season with home games against Hardin-Simmons and McMurry University on February 21st and February 23rd.
