WG finishes fifth at UMHB Fall Invitational

Temple, TX - The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor women's golf team climbed two spots in the final standings after shooting 28 strokes better and the Lady Cru finished fifth at the UMHB Lady Cru Fall Invitational. The UMHB women fired a 374-346=720 and passed Texas Lutheran and Hardin-Simmons in the team standings. Tyler Junior College won the team title with a 321-329=650, Southwestern University posted a 334-326=660 for second place, U.T.-Brownsville finished third with a 338-331=669 and Western Texas Community College took fourth place at 331-347=678. Hardin-Simmons University was sixth at 354-367=721, Texas Lutheran University was seventh with a 370-354=724, Trinity University shot 380-349=729 and finished eighth, Schreiner University posted a 382-371=753 for ninth place and LeTourneau University was 10th with a 376-396=772. The two-day, 36-hole event was played on a par-72, 5,820-yard layout at Wildflower Country Club in Temple.
Courtney Nelson posted the best individual finish for UMHB after shooting 91-83=174 to tie for 17th place. Taylour Shaw posted a 93-87=180 to finish 27th, Mallory McAdams tied for 28th after shooting 94-88=172, Allison Williams was 33rd with a 96-88=184 and Kathryne Lozano was 44th with a 98-97=195. April Martinez of U.T.-Brownsville won the individual title with a 75-77=152.
The UMHB women will return to action with the Trinity University Alamo City Classic. That tournament will be played October 15th and 16th at River Crossing Golf Course in Spring Branch.
