WG in fifth place at Alamo City Classic

Spring Branch, TX - The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor women's golf team fired a 361 team total and the Lady Cru is in fifth place after the first round of the Alamo City Classic Monday in San Antonio. The UMHB women trail first place U.T.-Brownsville's 334 by 27 strokes. McMurry University and Southwestern University are tied for second place with 341's and Hardin-Simmons University is in fourth place, 17 shots ahead of UMHB with a 344 team score. Tournament host Trinity University is in sixth place with a 376 and Texas Lutheran University is in seventh place after carding a 384. The two-day, 36-hole event is being played on a par-72, 5,891-yard layout at River Crossing Golf Course in Spring Branch.

UMHB was led individually by Courtney Kruppa's 86. Kruppa is part of a three-way tie for 10th place. Courtney Nelson fired a 90 for the Lady Cru to tie for 19th place, Allison Williams posted a 91 to tie for 22nd, Taylour Shaw is tied for 29th place with a 94 and Kathryn Lozano carded a 97 to tie for 33rd. Marisa Mauldin of Southwestern University has the individual lead after shooting 78.

The tournament wraps up with 18 more holes tomorrow. Teams will tee off with a shotgun start at 9:00 AM.
