WG finishes fifth at Alamo City Classic

Spring Branch, TX - The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor women's golf team made up ground, but could not climb in the standings as the Lady Cru finished in fifth place at the Alamo City Classic Tuesday afternoon in Spring Branch. The UMHB women posted a 361-351=712 and finished 39 strokes behind team champion Southwestern University's 341-332=673. U.T.-Brownsville finished second with a 334-344=678, Hardin-Simmons University took third place with a 344-338=682 and McMurry University finished in fourth place, eight shots ahead of UMHB with a 341-363=704. Tournament host Trinity University was sixth with a 376-357=733 and Texas Lutheran University claimed seventh place after firing a 384-366=750. The two-day, 36-hole event was played on a par-72, 5,891-yard layout at River Crossing in Spring Branch.
Courtney Nelson was the top individual finisher for the UMHB women. Nelson finished in 11th place after shooting 90-85=175. Allison Williams (91-87) and Courtney Kruppa (86-92) tied for 15th place with 178's, Kathryne Lozano tied for 28th place with a 97-87=184 and Taylour Shaw finished 31st with a 94-92=186. Southwestern's Marisa Mauldin won the individual tournament title after posting a 78-78=156.
The tournament wraps up the fall schedule for the Lady Cru.
