WG finishes 16th at St. Edward's Invitational

Austin, TX- The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor women's golf team improved by 17 strokes on the final day, but the Cru women could not climb in the team standings and finished 16th at the St. Edward's Invitational Tuesday afternoon in Austin. The UMHB women fired a 391-374=765 team total and finished four shots behind 15th-place Newman University's 383-378=761. The University of Texas junior varsity won the team title with a 331-318=649, three shots ahead of second-place Tarleton State's 335-317=652. Tournament host St. Edward's took third place at 335-327=662, Southwestern University was four after posting a 357-320=677 and Western Washington University rounded out the top five with a 345-334=679. The two-day, 36-hole event was played on a par-71, 6,600-yard layout at the Golf Course at Circle C in Austin.

Christi Williams posted the top individual finish for UMHB after carding a 98-85=183 for 61st place. Kathryne Lozano tied for 80th place after shooting 96-98=194, Courtney Nelson finished 83rd with a 102-95=197, Allison Williams finished 84th with a 102-96=198 and Taylour Shaw had to withdraw on the final day with an injury after shooting a team-best 95 on the opening day. Southwestern University's Kristen Davenport won the individual title after posting a 79-78=157.
