WG finishes eighth at Northwood Tournament

Granbury, TX - The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor women's golf team improved by ten strokes on the final day and the Cru women moved up one spot to finish eighth in the team standings at the Bluebonnet Classic Tuesday afternoon in Granbury. The UMHB women fired a 367-357=724 team total and finished just two shots behind seventh place U.T.-Brownsville's 355-367=722 score. Oklahoma City University won the team title after shooting 301-308=609, 15 strokes better than the University of Texas junior varsity, who shot 308-316=624 for second place. Redlands Community College was third with a 311-332=643, Lubbock Christian University took fourth place with a 333-331=664 and tournament host Northwood University (345-349) and Southern Nazarene University (339-355) tied for fifth place with 694's. Southwestern (KS) College was ninth with a 357-381=738, Oklahoma Baptist University claimed 10th place with a 380-363=743, LeTourneau University took 11th place at 414-407=821 and U.T.-Dallas finished 12th with a 470-483=953. The two-day, 36-hole event was played on a par-72, 6,164-yard layout at Harbor Lakes Golf Course.
Courtney Nelson posted the top individual finish for the UMHB women. Nelson finished 36th after shooting 92-90=182. Christi Williams tied for 37th after carding a 92-91=183, Allison Williams tied for 39th place with a 92-92=184, Kathryne Lozano posted a 91-95=186 for 43rd place and Taylour Shaw fired a 104-84=188 for 45th place. Alexandra Richards of the Texas JV won individual honors with a 71-76=147.
The Cru women will return to action with the LeTourneau University Spring Classic. That tournament will be played April 14-15 at Pinecrest Country Club in Longview.
