WS tops ETBU 3-0

Belton, TX - The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor women's soccer team used a pair of second half goals to break open a tight match as the Lady Cru beat East Texas Baptist University 3-0 Saturday afternoon in Belton. The UMHB women improve to 4-5 overall and 4-1 in American Southwest Conference play with the victory. The loss drops the Lady Tigers to 2-8-2 overall and 1-5 in the ASC on the season.
The Lady Cru took a 1-0 lead when Lauren Thorne connected off an assist from Lateah Lucero 17:59 into the match. It would stay 1-0 until Thorne assisted Brittany Paxton on a goal at the 56:09 mark. Thorne then converted a penalty kick with just 5:16 remaining in the match to provide the final margin. Ally Sargeant posted four saves in goal for the UMHB women to post the shutout. Jordyn Perry had 10 saves in goal for ETBU.
The UMHB women will now hit the road for a pair of ASC matches next week. The Lady Cru will face U.T.-Tyler in a 6:00 PM start on Thursday night before taking on Concordia Texas in a 1:00 PM start next Saturday in Austin.
