WS falls to U.T.-Tyler 2-0

Tyler, TX- The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor women's soccer team gave up a pair of goals in the first five minutes of the match before settling down, but the Lady Cru could not overcome the quick early deficit in a 2-0 loss to U.T.-Tyler Thursday night in Tyler. The loss drops the UMHB women to 4-6 overall and 4-2 in American Southwest Conference play on the season. U.T.-Tyler improves to 6-3-2 overall and 4-1-2 in the ASC with the victory.

The Patriots grabbed a 1-0 lead when Taylor Estes scored off an assist from Jorden Reed just 1:31 into the match. Reed added an unassisted goal 3:23 later to make it 2-0 U.T.-Tyler. Both goalkeepers stepped up from there to keep it that way. Sam Fraser posted five saves to record the shutout for U.T.-Tyler. Ally Sargeant finished with four saves for the Lady Cru. UMHB was out shot 15-8 in the match, but put five of those eight shots on goal.

The UMHB women will return to action with another ASC road match on Saturday. The Lady Cru will take on Concordia Texas in a 2:00 PM start Saturday in Austin.
