WS falls to U.T.-Tyler in ASC Tournament

11/02/07

Abilene, TX - The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor women's soccer team kept it close for the first 84 minutes, but the Lady Cru could not overcome a late U.T.-Tyler flurry as the UMHB women fell 4-0 to the Lady Patriots in the first round of the American Southwest Conference Championship Tournament. The loss ends the Lady Cru's season with an 8-10 record. U.T.-Tyler improves to 12-3-3 and will advance to take on U.T.-Dallas in a 2:00 PM semifinal match tomorrow.

U.T.-Tyler took a 1-0 lead when Kendall Kramer scored 27:31 into the first half. It would stay 1-0 into the 84th minute before the Lady Patriots scored again on Jorden Reed's goal at the 84:44 mark. U.T-Tyler would add two more insurance goals in the next four minutes as Kasey Kamp and Lauren Dailey scored to provide the final margin. The UMHB women were out shot 10-3 in the loss and Sam Fraser posted the shutout for the Lady Patriots without recording a save. Ally Sargeant had three saves in goal for the Lady Cru.

The UMHB women were making just their second appearance in the ASC Championship Tournament. Friday's loss closes out the careers of three UMHB seniors, Taylor Harrison, Ashley Schiller and Jennifer Zimmerman.
