WG finishes 2nd at LeTourneau Spring Classic

Longview, TX - The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor women's golf team put together back-to-back rounds in the 350's and the Cru women finished second in the team standings at the LeTourneau University Spring Classic Tuesday in Longview. The UMHB women fired a 352-359=711 to finish 11 strokes behind team champion Northwood University's 365-335=700. McMurry University finished third with a 365-354=719, U.T.-Tyler claimed fourth place with a 361-363=724, Hardin-Simmons University took fifth place at 368-371=739 and tournament host LeTourneau University finished sixth with a 398-401=799 total. The two-day, 36-hole event was played on a par-72, 5,826-yard layout at Pinecrest Country Club in Longview.

Christi Williams posted the top individual finish for the UMHB women. Williams posted an 87-88=175 to finish eighth. Courtney Nelson recorded an 88-92=180 to take 11th place, Allison Williams tied for 12th place after shooting 93-88=181, Kathryne Lozano was 18th after firing a 92-91=83 and Taylour Shaw finished 19th with an 85-99=184. U.T.-Tyler's Samantha Humphrey won the individual title in a playoff after shooting 85-81=166. She tied with U.T.-Dallas' Alicia Yoder (81-85=166).

The Cru women will now return to action with the American Southwest Conference Tournament. The ASC Tournament will be played April 21st and 22nd at Hurricane Creek Golf Course in Anna, Texas.
