MBB's Tilmon Gaddy named TABC Small College Player of the Year

Belton, TX - University of Mary Hardin-Baylor men's basketball player Tilmon Gaddy has been named Small College Player of the Year by the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches. The Small College Player of the Year recognizes the outstanding collegiate basketball player in Texas in NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
Gaddy, a junior from Harker Heights High School, led the Cru in scoring at 14.7 points per game and he was second on the team in rebounding at 5.9 boards per contest. Gaddy added 45 assists, 43 steals and 12 blocked shots on the season. He shot 49.8 per cent from the field and was the team's leading scorer 12 times on the season. Gaddy also earned American Southwest Conference All-Conference honors, was named ASC West Division Newcomer of the Year and was also voted to the ASC All-West Division First Team. Gaddy was named the MVP of the ASC Championship Tournament and also earned a spot on the ASC All-Tournament Team.
"It is a tremendous honor for Tilmon and for our program when you consider the number of programs in Texas," Cru head coach Ken DeWeese said. "It is truly an honor for Tilmon and also truly an honor for our program and our basketball team. It is also an honor for the American Southwest Conference to have our players and coaches recognized for their achievements."
The ASC swept the TABC Small College Player and Coach of the Year honors this season. UMHB head coach Ken DeWeese and Howard Payne women's coach Chris Kielsmeier were named TABC Small College Coaches of the Year. HPU senior Meia Daniels was named TABC Women's Small College Player of the Year.
The Cru finished the 2007-08 season with a 26-4 overall record and won the ASC Championship for the first time in the program's history. UMHB advanced to the NCAA Division III National Championships for the second straight year and posted the first NCAA Tournament victory in school history.
