MG teams in 4th and 5th place at UMHB Fall Invitational

Salado, TX - The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor men's golf team put a pair of squads in the top five after the opening round of the UMHB Fall Invitational Monday in Salado. The Cru JV team fired a 300 team score and sits in fourth place overall. The UMHB varsity fired a 301 total and is part of a three-way tie for fifth place with McMurry University and Pacific University. U.T.-Dallas has the overall lead after fired a 292 team total. Paris Community College is second with a 294 and the Baylor University junior varsity is third overall at 298. Lubbock Christian University and Tyler Junior College are tied for eighth place after posting 302's. U.T.-Brownsville and Southwestern University are tied for 10th place with 304 team totals. University of the Southwest shot 305 for 12th place, Schreiner University is 13th at 308, Texas Lutheran University posted a 309 for 14th place, Trinity University is 15th after shooting 314, the Southwestern junior varsity is 16th at 321, Hardin-Simmons University carded a 323 for 17th place and Concordia Texas posted a 324 for 18th place. The two-day, 36-hole event is being played on a par-71, 6,502-yard layout at Mill Creek Golf Course.

Jason Timmins of Paris CC and Daniel Maurer of Trinity University are tied for the individual lead after both players shot two-under 69's on Monday. UMHB was led by Kevin Black's one-under 70. Black is tied with Zane Caillier of Paris for third place individually. Johnathan Sustaita and Nathan Erwin both posted 74's for the Cru to tie for 18th place, Eric White shot a 75 to tie for 26th place, Garrison Nordt, Davis Dewald and Travis Bice all shot 76's and are tied for 33rd place, Mike McQuaid posted a 77 to tie for 45th place, Kyle Boliver fired a 78 and is tied for 53rd place, Shayne Eddleman shot 80 to tie for 68th place and Jeffrey Hoy carded an 82 to tie for 81st place.

The tournament will wrap up with the final 18 holes tomorrow. Teams will begin teeing off at 8:00 AM. The UMHB teams will tee off beginning at 8:16 AM.
