VB drops two at ASC Cross Over Tournament

Austin, TX - The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor volleyball team dropped two matches to close out play at the American Southwest Conference Cross-Over Tournament Saturday afternoon in Austin. The Cru fell to Hardin-Simmons and Concordia Texas to drop to 9-13 overall and 6-8 in ASC play on the year.

UMHB opened the day with a 30-22, 30-21, 30-21 loss to Hardin-Simmons. UMHB hit .107 as a team while the Cowgirls hit .364. Melanie Daniell topped the Cru with 11 kills. Kyleigh Thurman had a team-high nine digs and Stephanie Little posted 13 assists.

UMHB closed out the day by dropping a 30-23, 25-30, 30-32, 30-25, 15-10 decision to tournament host Concordia Texas. Daniell and Alexandra Johansson-Jones recorded 11 kills apiece for the Cru and Kayla Skrobarcyzk and Leigh Ann Hall added 10 kills each. Lindsay Deringer had 18 digs and Little posted 28 assists.

The Cru will now return home for its home finale next Tuesday. UMHB will host LeTourneau University for a 6:00 PM start on Senior Night at the Mayborn Campus Center. The Cru will then travel to San Antonio to take on Trinity University on Thursday night. UMHB will close out a busy week with a trip to the Austin College Tournament on Friday and Saturday in Sherman.
