VB splits matches at Austin College Tournament

Sherman, TX- The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor volleyball team split its matches on the opening day of the Austin College Tournament Friday in Sherman. The Cru opened with a victory over Concordia Texas before falling to McMurry University to close out the day. UMHB is now 11-15 on the season.

The Cru opened the day with a 19-30, 32-30, 30-21, 30-21 victory over Concordia Texas. Alexandra Johansson-Jones led the way with 14 kills, three block solos and eight block assists. Jade Norwid added 11 kills and seven blocks assists. Stephanie Little had a team-high 28 assists and added 13 digs. Kyleigh Thurman had a team-high 32 digs and she also chipped in with eight kills for UMHB.

The Cru close out the day with a see-saw 31-29, 29-31, 30-21, 14-30, 15-8 loss to McMurry University. Norwid led the team with 12 kills and 30 digs and Johansson-Jones added 10 kills and seven total blocks. Little had 25 digs and 22 assists and Erin Davis also posted a double-double with 11 digs and 10 assists.

The Cru will close out the tournament with two more matches tomorrow. UMHB will face Howard Payne University and Paul Quinn College on Saturday.
