VB sweeps on final day of Austin College Tournament

Sherman, TX - The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor volleyball team took control of both matches early as the Cru posted a sweep on the final day of the Austin College Classic in Sherman. UMHB improves to 13-15 on the season with the two victories.

The Cru opened the day with a 30-25, 28-30, 32-30, 30-23 victory over Howard Payne University. Melanie Daniell led UMHB with 18 kills and Jade Norwid added 15 more. Erin Davis recorded 23 assists and 24 digs and Stephanie Little added 20 assists and 22 digs. Erin Maenius also chipped in with a team-high 25 digs.

The Cru then closed out the day with a 30-15, 30-19, 30-13 win over Paul Quinn College. Norwid had a team-high eight kills and Daniell added six more. Little had 13 assists and 14 digs.

The Cru will hit the road to close out ASC East Division play with a pair of matches next weekend. UMHB will take on Mississippi College in a 6:00 PM start on Friday before facing East Texas Baptist in a 5:00 PM start next Saturday.
