Honors Program Application Information


Honors Program Information

The purpose of the University Honors Program is to stimulate intellectual curiosity and social awareness, to investigate relevant moral and ethical systems, and to enhance aesthetic awareness. Through an interdisciplinary approach, the University Honors Program also attempts to give students an understanding of the relationships which unite all scholarly disciplines.

Note: Any student who has maintained a cumulative grade point average of 3.9 or better will graduate from the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor cum laude without participation in the University Honors Program. Any student who aspires to graduate magna cum laude or summa cum laude must participate in the University Honors Program as described here.     

Program Requirements

Along with the UMHB Honors Program Application, applicants must submit:

    1. A complete UMHB admission application along with the necessary documents listed below:
        •$35 application fee
        •Official ACT/SAT scores
        •Official High School transcript

    2. A minimum ACT composite score of 27 or a minimum SAT score of 1220 (critical reading + math).

    3. Complete Honors applications by January 1 to receive priority consideration.

Additional Scholarship Information

PRESIDENT'S SCHOLARSHIP - $48,000
$12,000 per year. Awarded to entering first-time freshmen students with a minimum ACT composite score of 31 or a minimum *SAT score of 1380. Renewable for up to eight consecutive fall and spring semesters based on a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or above. Recipients must live on campus unless married or single with dependents.

VICE PRESIDENT'S SCHOLARSHIP - $32,000
$8,000 per year. Awarded to entering first-time freshmen students with a minimum ACT composite score of 28 or a minimum *SAT score of 1260. Renewable for up to eight consecutive fall and spring semesters based on a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or above. Recipients must live on campus unless married or single with dependents.

FRESHMAN HONOR SCHOLARSHIP - $16,000
$4,000 per year. Awarded to entering first-time freshmen students with a minimum ACT composite score of 25 or a minimum *SAT score of 1130 or students ranking in the top 10% of their graduating class. Renewable for up to eight consecutive semesters based on a cumulative grade point average of 3.25 or above.
