Spring Commencement

Belton, Texas - The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor held their spring Commencement on Saturday, May 9 at the Bell County Expo Center. This was the university's 153rd graduating class. Three-hundred and seven students were awarded degrees. Of these, 280 received baccalaureate degrees, and 27 students received master's degrees.

Several awards were given during the ceremony. The awards included the Alpha Chi Award for highest overall GPA (4.0) which went to Julie Atwood of Temple, Elizabeth Melles of Belton, Emily Mize of Fairfield, Andrew Smiley of Harker Heights and Sarah Whitmire of Waco. The Loyalty Cup for the student who is most representative of the ideals, tradition and spirit of the university went to Martha Sicking of Bay City and Tatenda Tavaziva of Belton. The President's Award for meritorious service went to Amelia Casey of Allen and Elliott Powell of Allen.

Additional honors awards were given to Victoria Eby of Magnolia, Elizabeth Melles of Belton and Zayde Radwan of Deer Park.
