McGilvray Named Registrar at UMHB
06/05/09
Belton, Texas - Amy McGilvray has been named registrar at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor. She started in the position on June 1.
As registrar, McGilvray will oversee all student academic records and process all student transcripts. The office coordinates and develops the university catalog, schedules all classes each semester, develops student degree plans, and handles veterans' affairs and registration.
According to Provost Steve Oldham, McGilvray, who is returning to the position at the university, will be a tremendous asset in this key role.
"Amy became a higher education professional when she joined the UMHB staff in August 1995 as assistant registrar. She was later promoted to registrar in June 2000, but had to leave when her husband was relocated in 2001. We are extremely pleased that we have a person who already knows the university and knows the role," said Oldham.
A graduate of Groesbeck High School, McGilvray graduated from UMHB in 1993 with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree. She earned her MBA from UMHB in August 1997.
During her years away from the UMHB, McGilvray served as assistant registrar at Wake Technical Community College (WTCC) in Raleigh, North Carolina. In 2003, she returned to Texas where she served as assistant registrar at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio (UTHSCSA) and was later promoted to registrar.
Throughout her career as a higher education professional, McGilvray has been a member of the American Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers (AACRAO), the Southern Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers (SACRAO), the Texas Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers (TACRAO), the Carolinas Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers (CACRAO), the Central Texas Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers (CenTACRAO), and the South Texas Association of Registrars and Admissions Officers (STARAO).
McGilvray is married to Monte McGilvray, also a graduate of Groesbeck High School and UMHB. The couple has two daughters.
