06/18/09

Brent BurksBelton, Texas - Brent Burks has been named director of admissions and recruiting at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor. He started in the position on June 16.

As director of admissions and recruiting, Burks will oversee all recruiting efforts on behalf of the university. He will also be responsible for granting admission to prospective students each semester. UMHB traditionally recruits 950-1000 new students each fall.

According to Associate Vice President for Enrollment Management Ron Brown, Burks' promotion to director is critical to the operation of the university.

"Brent is a product of UMHB, having completed his bachelor's and master's degrees here. Brent was very active during his undergraduate years, excelling academically and lettering in both football and golf. His experience as both an undergraduate and graduate student of UMHB, as well as his professional experience in admissions and recruiting management, will serve us well. We are extremely pleased Brent has accepted the challenge of leading our recruiting efforts," said Brown.

A 2000 graduate of Hillsboro High School, Burks graduated from UMHB in 2004 with a Bachelor of Arts degree. He earned his master's of education degree from UMHB in 2006.

Burks began working for the university as an admissions counselor in 2004. In 2006, he was promoted to associate director of admissions and recruiting.
