Medication Drop Off Day
10/20/09
Belton, Texas - University of Mary Hardin-Baylor College of Nursing students will hold Medication Drug Drop Off Day on Friday, October 23, from 9:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. at Scott &White Center for Diagnostic Medicine, at the corner of South 31st Street and West Avenue R in Temple.
"The public does not always know that old medications need to be discarded in a safe manner or it can be a hazard for the environment," said senior nursing student Ruth Johnston.
This event is being coordinated by senior UMHB nursing students. Their goal is to reduce pollution and prevent poisoning by properly disposing of old, unused medication. The nursing students are working in conjunction with the Central Texas Poison Control Center and Carolyn Insall. The Temple Police Department will also be on hand assisting the students to dispose of old medications.
"We hope people will take this opportunity to safely discard old medications," said Johnston.
