Belton, Texas - The American Chemical Society (ACS) Student Affiliates chapter at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor has been selected to receive an Outstanding Award for its activities conducted during the 2008-09 academic year.

For the 2008-09 academic year, over 360 reports were submitted and the Society Committee on Education presented 35 outstanding, 68 commendable and 119 honorable mention awards. List of award winning chapters will be published in Chemical & Engineering News and in In Chemistry, the student member magazine. The award winning chapters will also be honored at the 239th ACS National Meeting in Salt Lake City, Utah on Sunday, March 21, 2010.

Dr. Darrell Watson, faculty advisor of the chapter, deserves special commendation. Few faculty members are willing to make the great commitment of time and energy that a successful chapter requires. Dr. Watson's efforts certainly represent the best in undergraduate science education and mentoring around the country.
