RIFFS Presentation
10/26/09
Belton, Texas - The College of Visual and Performing Arts at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor will present RIFFS on Tuesday, November 3, at 7:30 p.m. in the Shelton Theatre in the Mabee Student Center.
A collaborative program that includes visual art from Art Professor Barbara Fontaine-White's painting class, poetry from English professors Brady Peterson and Audell Shelburne, and jazz performances by the university's Jazz Combo, staff accompanist Nelda Milligan, music professor Jessye Whitis, and a featured set by saxophone soloist, and alum, Patrick Trahan.
The paintings will be exhibited, poetry read, music played, along with multi-media projections. Shelton will be set up like a coffee house / jazz club with tables and chairs. There will be a coffee "bar" and desserts provided.
This event is free and open to the public, with limited seating.
This is the second annual cross-discipline arts event at UMHB. "Riffs" is a jazz term, which also has connotations for the use of language.
