Conservatory Choirs Present Fall Concert

Belton, Texas - The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor Conservatory Preparatory Choir, Concert Girls Choir, Concert Boys Choir, and High School Mixed Ensemble will present their Fall Concert on Monday, November 16.

This concert will take place at 7:00 pm in Hughes Recital Hall on the UMHB campus. Each choir will perform three to four individual works. All four choirs will combine "Come to the Music" by Joseph M. Martin and end the concert with "The Lord Bless You and Keep You" by John Rutter. This concert is free to the general public.

The Preparatory Choir is for girls and boys who are ages seven through ten years of age. The Preparatory Choir is under the direction of Krista Eshbaugh and accompanied by Kathryn Brown. The Concert Girls and Concert Boys choirs are for those who are ten to thirteen years of age. Jill Horner is the director of the Concert Girls Choir, with Hannah Horton serving as their accompanist. The Concert Boys Choir is directed by Deborah Carney and accompanied by Elaine Garcia. The High School Mixed Ensemble is for young women and men who are fourteen through eighteen years of age. Nancy Bales is the director and Kathryn Brown will be their guest accompanist for the mixed ensemble.

The UMHB Conservatory Choirs emphasis is on teaching students to sing with healthy vocal production using the finest literature available for young voices. The choir's repertoire is varied to include many styles that include classical, folk, and musical theater. Performance skills, staging, and choreography are also taught and incorporated in all the choir's rehearsals in preparation for concerts. All four choirs meet on Monday evenings on the UMHB campus in Presser Hall. The Preparatory Choir meets from 6:00 to 7:00 pm, the Concert Girls and Concert Boys meet from 6:00 to 7:30 pm, and the High School Mixed Ensemble meets from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. Membership in the UMHB Conservatory Choirs is through audition only.
