Chapel Features Don Piper

Belton, Texas - Don Piper, author of "90 Minutes in Heaven", will be the chapel guest speaker at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor on Wednesday, December 3 at 11:00 a.m. in the W. W. Walton Chapel.

Don Piper spent 90 minutes in Heaven! Following a tragic automobile accident in 1989 in which Rev. Piper was declared "dead on the scene," he was miraculously revived twice and has been in recovery since that time. To date 34 surgical procedures have taken place. He walks only as a result of miraculous and in some cases medically unexplainable circumstances. During the time he was "dead," Rev. Piper was granted the extreme privilege of glimpsing Heaven itself. His dramatic story has been retold on such network TV programs as "The 700 Club with Pat Robertson," nine times thus far. Piper was featured on a CBN network special "Hope for the New Millennium" in March of 2001. He has been a guest on numerous TV talk shows including Daystar's "At Home Live," Canada's "100 Huntley Street," TBN's "Praise The Lord," "Life Today" with James Robison, local and network newscasts, and in numerous newspapers and magazines across America. He has been a guest on over 60 national and regional radio programs. His story of tragedy and miracles has been chronicled in a best-selling book co-authored with Cecil Murphey, "90 Minutes in Heaven- - -a True Story of Death and Life," Fleming Revell, 2004, now in its 15th printing. Already over 400,000 copies have been purchased and it has performed equally well in secular and Christian markets. It also is enjoying world-wide success as a best-seller in Sweden, Australia, Canada, South Africa and the United Kingdom.

Best-selling author, speaker, actor, syndicated columnist, former CBS & CBN Television Network Executive, former Youth Minister, Education Minister, Senior Adult Minister, Baptist Student Ministry Director, long-time Single Adult Pastor, and Senior Pastor, Don Piper is a man of many hats. Since 1984, he has been serving the Lord in full-time ministry. Recently he served as Minister of Education and Single Adults at First Baptist Church, Pasadena, Texas, where he was responsible for the planning and leading the Education Ministry for nearly 11,000 members. Piper is a graduate of Louisiana State University in Radio and Television Broadcasting.
