NOTICE:
Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education - Request for Comments on MSN degree program at UMHB
In spring 2009, the Master's of Science in Nursing Education program of the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor Scott and White College of Nursing will seek to receive national accreditation of our Mater's of Science in Nursing Education program from the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). CCNE, which is a recognized accrediting body by the U.S. Secretary of Education, will perform an on-site evaluation of our MSN program on April 15 - 17, 2009. As a member of the university's constituency and community of interest, we invite you to submit comments to CCNE at the address provided below.
We hope that you will take advantage of this opportunity to comment about the MSN program's benefits and strengths for the community of interest, the importance of preparing nurse educators and the advantages of accreditation. CCNE shares third-party comments with members of the CCNE evaluation team prior to the visit, but at no time during the onsite visit and review process are the comments shared with the College of Nursing or the University. Having a continuous quality improvement approach, CCNE evaluates the effectiveness and quality of nursing programs based on standards related to the following four areas:
1. Mission And Governance
2. Institutional Commitment And Resources
3. Teaching-Learning Practices
4. Student Performance and Faculty Accomplishments
You can find additional information related to the standards for accreditation on the following website: http://www.aacn.nche.edu/Accreditation/pdf/standards.pdf.
