Midnight March

At midnight a few weeks before graduation, seniors in regalia march with lighted candles around Vann Circle Drive. As they sing the senior/alumni song, "Up With the Purple," they pause to light the candles of special friends and alumni. Initially, this march was held inside the campus dormitories with residents watching in complete silence from the darkness of their rooms. Later, residents moved to the doorways of their rooms so senior friends could light their candles. Adherence to fire codes required moving to the outdoors.
