Each year, people from around the area gather together to celebrate the word of the Lord during the Spring Revival at the University of Mary-Hardin Baylor. Hundreds of people attended the three-day event on the campus grounds March 31 through April 2.
Attendee and student at the school John Evans said the annual service is a time for believers to come together and be rejuvenated by the Gospel.
"We have revival to reinvigorate our walk with Jesus Christ. The term revival means restoring life to something. So in a way it's restoring a sense of life and vigor into our daily faith."
He said the service is beneficial because of the important message it brings forth.
"It's easy to get into the routine of going to church every Sunday and put God on the back-burner as someone you give an hour or two each week," Evans said. "In that sense, Revival is important because it reminds us that following Christ is a way of life and not a weekly program."
Sound engineer for the event Todd Hartman agreed and said the gathering is a service he looks forward to, and a place he knows he can reflect.
"Revival is a time every year where I expect two things: a powerful yet intimate time of worship, and a place where I know I will hear from God. It is a time where I can lay whatever burdens I have been carrying at His feet. For many people here, Revival is a wakeup call. It is a time to be real and deal with real issues, so that we can live in the freedom Christ offers."
Dozens of students and community members lifted their hands up high in praise to acknowledge the message of the Gospel at the event during the Spring Revival services.
