The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor Police Department (UMHBPD), as a matter of procedure and public information, collects and reports crime statistics monthly and yearly. Crime statistics are collected by the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor Police Department daily and a daily log is maintained. These statistics are compiled monthly and annually for reporting. The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor Police Department prepares this report to comply with the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security and Crime Statistics Act, as well as state and federal (UCR; Uniform Crime Reports) laws. The full text of this report can be located on our web site at http://www.umhb.edu/resources/campussafety/safety.html.
The UMHBPD makes reasonable efforts to obtain crime statistics from "campus security authorities" which include any official of the University who has significant responsibilities for student and campus activities. Every member of the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor Community should feel free to report criminal offenses described in the law. These offenses can be reported for the purpose of making timely warning reports and the annual statistical disclosure to the following campus offices: Student Life, the Vice Presidents' offices, the Universities President's office, Human Resources and the University Police Department.
The University encourages victims or witnesses to report all crimes. Such reports may be made confidentially by calling UMHBPD or by reporting the crime through the Department's confidential reporting system.
Campus pastoral counselors and mental health professionals, when acting as such, are not considered to be campus security authorities and are not required to report crimes for inclusion into the annual disclosure of crime statistics. As a matter of policy, they are encouraged, if and when they deem appropriate, to inform persons being counseled of the procedures to report crimes on a voluntary basis for inclusion into the annual crime statistics.
Each year, an e-mail notification is made to all current university employess and enrolled students which provides the web site to access this report. Copies of the report may also be obtained at the University Police Department located at 816 College.
