Fall Convocation

09/07/06

Belton, Texas -Dr. James R. King Jr., dean of the College of Business at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor, will be the guest speaker at the 2006 Fall Convocation service at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 22, in the Mayborn Campus Center on campus.

Dr. King will focus on the need for students to take advantage of all educational opportunities in an ever-shrinking world.

"Since Convocation marks the beginning of a new academic year, it is the perfect time for students to stop and reflect on their role in the world and on how to take advantage of the educational opportunities offered to them," said King.

Dr. King came to UMHB in 1993 as chairperson of the Computer and Information Sciences Department.  He became the dean of the College of Business in March, 2000.  Dr. King also consults in business process and systems integration and micro-enterprise development in developing countries.  He travels with students exposing them to the world and numerous cultures.  He has visited Morocco, Tunisia, Spain, France, Italy, Austria, Switzerland, Germany, Netherlands, England, Scotland, Canada, Mexico, Costa Rica, France, Belgium Jordan, China and England. Planned trips for the future include Ecuador and Morocco.

Convocation inaugurates the official opening of the new academic school year at the university. The ceremony is open to the public.
