Degree Plan

A copy of your degree plan with the appropriate signatures should be on file in the Registrar's Office the semester before you plan to graduate. The degree plan must be signed by:
  • Your major advisor.

  • An advisor in the department of your minor.

  • An advisor in the education department (if you are certifying to teach).

  • Any class substitutions must be noted on the degree plan and initialed by the advisor.  (The Course Substitution Form must accompany the signed degree plan.)

  • It is your responsibility to request your degree be sent to the Registrar's Office for a graduation audit.

  • After your degree plan has been sent to the Registrar's Office, Lillie Lowery, Graduation Coordinator, will review your degree plan and send you a graduation audit in the mail.

  • If you have any questions or do not agree with your graduation audit, please make an appointment with Lillie Lowery, Graduation Coordinator. (llowery@umhb.edu or (254) 295-4511)

All graduation requirements must be met, or you will not be allowed to graduate or walk across the stage at the Commencement Ceremony.

Students have failed to graduate because of the following:
  • Correspondence course grades have not been received.  UMHB correspondence courses need to be completed at least 3 weeks prior to graduation.  This is a busy time for faculty; they need time to grade the exams.  Correspondence courses from other schools need to be completed at least one (1) month prior to graduation.   Sometimes it takes larger schools several weeks to get the final to a correspondence course graded.

  • Official transcripts must be received before a course can be officially accepted toward graduation. Email/phone grades will allow you to "walk" at graduation, however your degree will not be posted nor will you receive your official diploma until the transcript is received.

  • UMHB Grade Point average must be 2.0 or higher to graduate. Don't take the semester lightly.

  • Chapel requirements must be met. Refer to page 15 in the 2008 Student Handbook.

Contact the Registrar's Office...
  • If you have questions.
  • If you change your expected graduation date (very important).
