Registration Procedures

Registration will be processed by alphabetical order.  Register for classes and complete schedule changes (drop/add) at the time slot for which the first letter of your last name is assigned (or any time after that).  All exceptions must be made in writing to the Registrar prior to registration.

New Students

All new students must have complete files in the Admissions Office before they will be allowed to register. New students whose previous transcripts have not been received must have received approval from the Admissions Office (or Graduate School if graduate students) before registering. Students with incomplete files, if allowed to register on a conditional basis, will be limited to no more than 6 semester hours per summer session or 12 semester hours in the Spring.

All Students

Prior to registration, all students must have charges and holds from previous semesters paid. No student will be allowed to register without a signed advisor slip (if a new student) or registration clearance (if a returning student). Do not wait until the last minute to see your advisor; they have multiple responsibilities at this time.

Registration Process

  1. Advising:  See your advisor according to major.  (See Admissions if advisor is not known.)
  2. Registration:  Bring your tentative schedule (new students must have a signed advising slip) to the Registrar's Office according to the alphabetical schedule or register online during the registration period.  (Early Registration is for currently enrolled students only.)
  3. Verifying Information:  Update any biographical or degree information, if necessary.
  4. Bills/Schedule:  Receive a printout of your new schedule and bill.  It is very important that you verify the courses listed on your printed schedule are correct.
  5. ID Cards:  New UMHB students will have a photo taken for their ID card.  The card will be issued to the new student at final registration.  There is a $10 replacement fee for lost student ID cards.
  6. Financial Aid:  Students receiving financial aid need to stop here.
  7. Payment:  Financial settlement is expected at the time of registration.  If you plan to use the tuition payment plan, visit the Business Office first, then proceed to the Cashier's Office.  Students not using the payment plan will go directly to the Cashier's Office.
  8. Vehicle Registration (parking sticker):  New students, register your vehicle. If you registered your vehicle in the fall, then your decal registration is still active through the fall semester.
  9. Meal Plan (if needed):  See Dining Services to choose a meal plan.
