Campus Recreation: Cru Cheer

The UMHB Crusader cheerleading program promotes school spirit in support of the University's athletic teams, student body, faculty, staff and alumn. Cru Cheer strives to serve as elite representatives of the UMHB student body as well as ambassadors of the University throughout the community. Tyrouts for the 2008-2009 Cru Cheer team will be held Sat., April 26th in the Rec. Gym of Mayborn Campus Center beginning with formal interviews at 9:00 a.m.When interviews are complete, we will break for lunch, then gather again at 1:30 p.m. for the skills portion of tryouts. Following the skills segment, the judges will calculate scores and post the team members according to contestant number. In preparation for tryouts, we will conduct an "Open Gym" on Sat., April 19th from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. in the Rec. Gym of Mayborn Campus Center. During this time, contestants will have the oppurtunity to learn a dance if needed, as well as divide into stunt groups/partners for the stunt portion of the tryout.
Minimum requirements are:
Women:
- Tumbling: standing back handspring; 1 running tumbling pass
- Stunting: 3 stunts as either flyer or base
- Cheer: 1 cheer (may use the one from Open Gym)
- Dance: 45 seconds of a dance (may use the one from Open Gym)
- Jumps: must show level or hyper extended toe-touch, pike, and front hurdler
Ladies' attire: Professional for interview; tight fitting for skills. No t-shirts, please.
Men:
- Stunting: 3 partner stunts, including toss to hands
Gentlemen's attire: Professional for interview; athletic wear for skills.
