SGA Sponsored Events

Crusader Knights

Crusader Knights began in 1993 as a fundraiser led by and for the Senior Class. Men are selected by campus organizations to compete for the title of “Mr. Crusader Knight.” The men are judged on their unique video skit, group dance, individual walks and ability to answer interview questions. The winner is crowned and dubbed Mr. Crusader Knight by the university president.

Crusader Review

The Junior Class sponsors Crusader Review in the fall semester during Homecoming week. The elected homecoming court performs a dance and skit to be introduced to the student body and to illustrate why they should be elected Homecoming King and Queen.

Reaching Out

Reaching Out takes place each semester and is organized by the Director of Spiritual Life and the class chaplains. Students, faculty, administration, staff and members of the surrounding area come together to serve their community through projects which include: yard-work, visiting with the elderly, paint/fixing up houses, and so forth.

Play Day

Play Day is held each spring semester before finals. This is a day in which no classes are held and students are able to take a break and play games all day. The Director of SGA programs and class presidents sponsors this event. Past events during Play Day include helicopter rides, crawfish boil, live music, and paintball.

Sader Puff

The freshmen class sponsors Sader Puff in the fall semester. This is the classic Powder Puff women's football game with a Crusader twist. Freshman, sophomore, juniors and seniors compete against each other to win the game with the women playing and the men coaching.

Spring Formal

Spring Formal is sponsored by FYC as a formal dance and dinner for all students, faculty, staff and administration.

Stunt Night

In 1904, George Rosborough, physical education instructor, initiated Stunt Night to give the campus residents, who could not go home, an activity during the Christmas holidays. Currently, the event is sponsored by the sophomore class during the spring semester. This is a competition between the four classes that incorporates a skit and original song within a theme selected by the sophomore class. There are two winners: the class’ choice and the judges’ choice.
