Informal Recreation
Mabee-Farris Recreation Gym
If you like to get together with friends and play some pick-up basketball, volleyball, ping pong, badminton, or just to shoot hoops on your own, the Rec Gym is the place to be. Although not always available, the gym is a multi-purpose gathering place for informal recreation, as well as Intramural and other Campus Rec events. Basketballs, volleyballs and ping pong paddles are available at the control desk for check out with a valid UMHB ID.
Outdoor Recreation Courts
Tennis or any other informal games can be played on the Tennis Courts as well as the Basketball and Sand Volleyball Courts on a first come-first serve basis.
The lights for the outdoor basketball, sand volleyball and tennis courts can be turned on at dusk by pushing the red button for the particular court you are interested in. The lighting panel is the big grey box close to King Street. Lights will go off automatically, and can be turned on again, if need be. If lights are not functioning properly, please notify the Director of Campus Recreation.
Barbara Chaney Natatorium
Looking for a lower impact alternative to exercise or a way to beat the heat and still have fun? The indoor pool is a great way to cross train on days you need something different; OR you might just need to come in to take a late night dip, relax and cool off.
Walking/Jogging Track - Mayborn Campus Center Arena
Enjoy a cool and dry indoor track on the second floor of the Mayborn Center's Event Arena. The track is approximately 1/8 mile around. If you're dreading the treadmill, or it's too hot outside, take it inside and enjoy the rubberized and cushioned surface and climate controlled atmosphere.
