Dr. Mickey Kerr has been associated with the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor in various capacities. He is an alumnus of UMHB and played baseball for the Crusaders from 1976-1980. Mickey is the Vice President for Athletics.
Upon receiving his BBA in Management from UMHB in 1980, he began working for the University as an assistant baseball coach, residence hall director, and admissions counselor. In the fall of 1981, Mickey was named head baseball coach for UMHB and remained in that position, along with continuing to serve as residence hall director and admissions counselor, for two years. For the next 10 years, he coached and taught in the public interscholastic system, was an intercollegiate head baseball coach/athletic director, and was a wellness coordinator for a public utility company. In 1994, Mickey returned to UMHB as an assistant baseball coach and was later named head baseball coach late in the fall of 1996. In 2001 he became a full-time faculty member as an Instructor in the School of Exercise & Sport Science and earned his Doctorate in Sport Management in 2002. Mickey was the Associate Dean for the School of Exercise & Sport Science and holds the rank of Professor. He primarily taught undergraduate Sport Management courses and graduate Sport Administration courses. His additional responsibilities included Director of the MS in Sport Administration program and Faculty Athletics Representative. Mickey's wife, Dee, is employed as a financial advisor in the wealth management industry. She holds the Certified Financial Planner (CFP) designation, as well as the CLU, ChFC, and LUTCF professional insurance designations.
Together, Mickey and Dee have four children and three granddaughters. Leahann & Travis are the parents of granddaughters Kendall & Emery and live in Tucson, AZ. Courtney (2005) & Kyle are the parents of grandaughter Lynlie and live in Edinburg, TX. Rounding out the team, are Lauren of Austin, TX and Mickey Jr. (2007) of Bonifay, FL.
