Dr. Ricky Altahif recieved his B.S.Ed. in Exercise Physiology from Baylor University in 2012. He then attended Creighton University where he graduated with his Doctorate in Occupational Therapy in 2015. Following graduation he gained valuable clinical experience in the outpatient, inpatient, and acute rehabilitation settings. During his clinical career he served as informatics lead and as a clinical leader for rehabilitation of the upper extremity. While serving patients in the clinic, he discovered a passion for clinical education and accepted a role as Adjunct Professor at Baylor University. In the fall of 2021 he joined UMHB’s Occupational Therapy Program and became the Academic Fieldwork Coordinator soon after.
He enjoys serving those in his community via the Cru Community Clinic and at Mission Waco’s Health Clinic. He is an active member of the Texas Society of Hand Therapy, the American Occupational Therapy Association, and has served as a peer reviewer for the Journal of Hand Therapy. He holds professional certifications in fieldwork education, hand therapy, and hybrid education.
