Treble Choir
Membership in the Conservatory Choirs is offered after an interview with the choir director. Please call the Conservatory office to express your interest in scheduling an interview. Choir students will learn to sing with healthy vocal production using the finest literature available for young voices. The repertoire will be varied to include many styles including classical, folk, and musical theater. Performance skills, staging, and choreography will be taught and incorporated in preparation for concerts. Choir rehearsals are held on Monday evenings in Presser Hall on the UMHB Campus.

2018-19 Choirs Calendar
Time and Day: 6:00 - 7:30 p.m. - Monday
Location: Presser Hall, Room 404
Director: Kathryn Brown Colon
Specific Ages: 10 to 13 years
Tuition: $150.00
Kathryn Colon began her musical training at the Conservatory at age 10, when she joined the Treble Choir (then Concert Girls Choir). From that time, she continued to participate in the Conservatory through choir, piano, voice lessons, and instrumental ensembles until she graduated from high school in 2007. Mrs. Colon obtained a degree in Music Education from the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor. During her time as a college student, she remained involved at the Conservatory as a student piano teacher, recital accompanist, and accompanist for the Preparatory Choir. After graduating college, she went on to teach middle school choir in Killeen ISD for four years. Last year she resigned from teaching public school to be a full-time mama, part-time piano and voice teacher. Mrs. Colon is thrilled to be back on her home turf and directing the same group that caused her to fall in love with choral singing almost twenty years ago.
