About the Arts Academy

The UMHB Arts Academy is a non-credit program of the College of Visual & Performing Arts at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor. Our outstanding teachers, creative programs, and diverse learning opportunities make the UMHB Arts Academy a unique place to grow and develop as a student of the Arts. Through our belief that life-long learning significantly and positively contributes to our community, the UMHB Arts Academy offers classes, lessons, activities, and events to enhance the quality of life for all ages.

All Spring Classes and Private Lessons Begin on Jan 20th for 14 weeks

Private Music Lessons
Days: Monday–Friday
Location: Presser Hall, Arts Academy Wing
For Ages: 7+
Each week you will have a one-on-one 30-minute lesson with your instructor here at UMHB. Longer lesson durations are available upon request. Private lessons are available for Piano, Voice, Guitar, Strings, Woodwinds, and Brass Instruments!

Group Music Classes

Kid’s Choir
For Ages: 8–12 Years
A fun, energetic choir for kids to develop vocal skills, learn songs, and perform with confidence.

Kid’s Musical Theatre
For Ages: 8–17 Years
A lively class combining singing, acting, and movement for kids and teens interested in the stage.


Teeny Tykes & Tunes
For Ages: Infant–4 Years
A fun, interactive music activity class designed for teeny tykes and their parent or caregiver. Using music education tools and faith-based songs, children will learn rhythm, pitch, listening skills, and music memory through singing, playing instruments, games, and more. Due to space limitations, the class will be for one child and caregiver. No siblings.

Ready, Set, Go...Music
An activity-based program introducing foundational musical concepts through fun, engaging activities. Each lesson builds core skills in rhythm, melody, and musical expression to prepare students for future private music lessons.

Dance Classes

Pre-Ballet for Ages 3–6
A gentle introduction to ballet basics, motor skills, and dance class etiquette.

Beginner Ballet for Ages 7–12
A beginner ballet class focusing on positions, technique, and building confidence.

Intermediate Ballet for Ages 13+
For students with prior ballet experience to develop technique, strength, and artistry.

Pointe
A focused class for advanced ballet students to strengthen pointe work. Placement required.

Teen Jazz Dance
A lively jazz dance class blending classical and contemporary styles.
