Social Data Analytics
Data is everywhere, and the UMHB Sociology program offers a degree in Social Data Analytics to prepare students to be able to analyze the information that surrounds us. Graduates are prepared for a career as a data analyst or for graduate work in sociology or data science. This major is embedded in a social science degree so graduates not only have the technical skills to analyze information but also the social skills to interpret their meaning.
Students will also earn the Google Data Analytics certificate, a leading data analysis credential.

The UMHB Social Data Analytics program is more than just a technical degree in data analysis. Because it is embedded within the College of Humanities and Sciences’ Sociology program, students are trained in social theory, social inequalities (like race and gender), and research methods. This creates a more well-rounded data analyst who can not only technically analyze information, but can also socially interpret their findings
