Why study music performance at UMHB?

The music faculty at UMHB offers vocal instructors who have helped their students become recognized and honored in regional and national competitions each year. Piano performance majors have the opportunity to study with gifted pianists who are dedicated teachers as well. All faculty members serve as excellent mentors who can guide their students toward a successful musical career.

Since the Department of Music at UMHB is focused on undergraduate learning, students do not have to compete against graduate students for lead roles in operas and musical theater productions or for solos in choir or wind ensemble pieces.

The Sue & Frank Mayborn Performing Arts Center offers a state-of-the-art venue for instrumental and vocal performances, giving students many opportunities throughout the year to perform and share their talents with local patrons as well as members of the campus community.
