BELTON, Texas—The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor's chapter of Young Conservatives of Texas (YCT-UMHB) is proud to announce they are planting 2,977 American flags at Luther Memorial on the UMHB campus to honor the lives lost on September 11, 2001. UMHB students will begin planting flags on Sunday, Sept. 7, at 5:30 p.m. This event is one of YCT's longest-running traditions.
“Never forget. The tragedy on September 11, 2001, took the lives of nearly 3,000 Americans. Every year on the anniversary, our nation mourns the loss of those innocent men, women, and children,” explained Matthew Northrop, chairman of UMHB’s chapter of the Young Conservatives of Texas. “This memorial is our way of honoring those who died on that day 24 years ago.”
Members of the UMHB and surrounding communities are encouraged to visit the memorial any time until Friday, Sept. 12, when the flags are removed.
